Mr. Eugene Marshall Southard, born December 7, 1927 in Freeport, NY, passed into Heaven Saturday, May 4, 2019. Mr. Southard faithfully served 39 years as a missionary with UFM International/Crossworld Mission in Congo, Haiti, and Quebec, Canada. He retired to Penney Farms Retirement Center (PRC) in 1994 where he served as a Chaplain for many years, and was also a Chaplain for Helm Funeral Home.

Marshall played the French Horn for Clay County Community Band and was also a band member for the Penney Farms Band. He spent many hours as a volunteer grounds keeper, raking and cleaning the Penney Community grounds. He will be remembered as humble, quiet, gentle, and a man of God.

His wife, Thelma Southard and brother, Richard Southard preceded him in death. Survivors are his son, Larry Southard, granddaughters, Rebekah Southard (Nathan Grovhoug), and Michelle Dozier (Rousawn), great granddaughters, Alayah and Abrie and great grandson, Ari. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Penney Memorial Church.
