Eugene Meade, 67, of Whitesburg passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center. Eugene was the son of the late Ernest and Sadie Meade Bates. He was a member of the Letcher County Planning Commission, Past Member of the Whitesburg Rotary Club, Past President of the Neon Area Jaycees, Vice Chair of the Whitesburg Housing Authority, Member of the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center Advisory Board, and he was a member of the Baptist Faith.

He had been in poor health for several years and he loved to travel. Surviving is his wife: Sharon Meade; 2 daughters: Eugenia (Harold) Duker of Mayking and Robyn (Charles) Jones of Norton, Virginia; 1 brother: Charles Meade of Knott County, 2 sisters; Judy Webb of Webb Branch and Anna Ruth Sanders of Jenkins; 3 grandchildren: Brittney Ducker, Brett Levi Ducker, and Sophie Jones; 1 great grandchild: Michael Hayes. Funeral: 2:00 O’clock P.M. Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Hurst and Lester Boggs officiating.

Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
