Eula Mae (West) Culver passed away on September 8, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Strang, Oklahoma on October 25, 1923 to Jasper Newton West and Cora West. Being the only girl with three brothers she acquired the nickname “Sis” the name by which most people knew her.

She was predeceased by her three brothers and her husband Leonard G. Culver. Her immediate surviving family is her son, Curtis Newton Culver of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Meredith Culver Swiger and her two children… Read More » of Greenville, South Carolina; granddaughter Brantley Culver Anderson of Greenville, South Carolina; and step-granddaughter Teri Stamper and her four children of Beggs, Oklahoma. Eula Mae was a loving wife, devoted mother, faithful friend to those who knew her and a dedicated Christian lady.

She was a kind and gentle soul who never spoke ill of anyone. She was a longtime member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was also a proud member of the Cherokee Nation.

Although only one-half Cherokee by degree of blood, in her recent years she would proclaim to those she met that “I am a full blood Cherokee Indian ! ! ” She grew up in Strang, Oklahoma and attended the Chilocco Indian School and graduated from Strang High School.

Over her lifetime she was a homemaker and was employed by several manufacturers in Arkansas before her retirement. At various times she was a resident of Pryor, Oklahoma; Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Fayetteville, Arkansas and Houston, Texas.
