Evalea L. McBride, 75, of Bettendorf, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley where she was a long-time member. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City or to the Scott County Extension Service. Evalea was born in Davenport on July 16, 1943, the daughter of LaVerne J. & Verna A. (Claussen) Arp. She was a graduate of Bettendorf High School.

Evalea had been united in marriage to John McBride and they had remained life-long friends. Evalea drove a school bus for the Pleasant Valley School District for 43 years. An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she had served as church secretary for 29 years.

She had also been Sunday school superintendent, served with the Amitie Unit and had taught confirmation for a number of years. She had also served with Cluster 6. She had also been a 4-H Leader for many years.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Heidi McBride of Davenport and Erin & Jason Platt of Davenport; her son, Sean McBride and longtime companion, Erica Springer; her grandson, Joshua McBride and step-grandson, Wyeth Platt; her brother and sister-in-law, DuWayne & Sandra Arp of Durango, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Arp; her former brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Suzanne McBride of Donahue, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends. Evalea was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Melvin “Butch” Arp and Kenneth Arp. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting Evalea’s obituary at www.
