Evelyn A. Henderson, of West Harrison, IN, passed away on May 5, 2019 at the age of 94. She was born on July 19, 1924 in Franklin County, IN to the late John and Lucy (Dixon) Taylor. She married Merle Henderson and they were blessed with four children: Alan, Gordon, Gregory, and Gayle.

Evelyn enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Evelyn and Merle owned an apple orchard so she was known for always making apple pies, apple sauce, apple butter and she would can vegetables from the garden, and meat from the farm animals. She was a big part of their family being self sufficient.

Evelyn also enjoyed going to her Bible Study group where she never missed until her failing health. She was also a member of the Bright #1 Homemakers group which would meet monthly to do sewing projects. She was preceded in death by her husband Merle Henderson; son: Alan Henderson; Parents: John and Lucy Taylor; siblings: Leland, Herbert, Donald, Garrett, Delmar Taylor and Doris Edwards; and daughters-in-law: Susan Henderson and Valerie Vanarsdall.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Gordon Henderson, Gregory Henderson, Gayle (Alan) Rolfes; cherished grandchildren: Andy (Victoria) Henderson, Katharine Egizio and Chris Rolfes; Great-grandchildren: Keith & Bryce Henderson. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Brater Winter Funeral Home, Harrison. Services will be on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 10 AM in the Dearborn Hills United Methodist Church, 25365 Stateline Road, Bright, IN 47025 with Pastor Bob Cannon officiating.

Burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery. Memorials maybe made to Dearborn Hills U.M.C or Our Hospice of North Vernon. Donations maybe made during the visitation or funeral service by giving your donation to a funeral home representative.
