Evelyn M. Peterson, 87, of Conneaut, passed away Friday morning, December 14, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. She was born February 28, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, and was the daughter of Robert and Marie (Hilbert) Hurst. After high school graduation, Evelyn became an RN and worked for Dr. Doran, Brown Memorial Hospital, and retired from Ashtabula County Medical Center.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and helper of the counting team. During her children’s younger years, she served as their girl and boy scout leader. Evelyn was a great bowler and bowled a 300 game, and was a competition roller-skater.

Evelyn was a proud member of the Easter Star Rose Chapter #22, becoming a member in March, 1981. She served as Worthy Matron in 1986, and throughout her time, served her chapter as treasurer for 10 years, and served as Deputy Grand Matron for the Grand Chapter of Ohio in 2005. Survivors include her son George (Sandra Kay) Peterson, Jr. of Conneaut; her daughters Linda Hall of Conneaut, Grace (Rich) Tuuri of Conneaut, Diane (William Bergkamp) Nipper of Erie, Bonnie (Lou) Howell of Conneaut, Peggy (Allen) Blood of Birmingham, AL, and Stacey (Eddie) Barlow of Chardon.

Also surviving are 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including spouses; and many nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Peterson, Sr., whom she married June 21, 1952; her sisters Elizabeth Fatzick, Margaret Morgan, and Roberta Burkey; her son-in-law Willard Hall; and her sister-in-law Joy Dittler. Private services will be held in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, OH.

The family will receive guests from 1-3 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Waters Catering, 3224 E. Center St., North Kingsville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United States Naval Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Ave. , NW, Washington, DC, 20004-2608.
