Evelyn Mae Stradnick, 97, formerly of Drums, passed away, Wednesday evening, November 28, 2018 at Mountain City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Hazle Township, where she had resided for the past five years. Born in West Hazleton, November 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Martha (Stein) Houseknecht and had resided in Drums for most of her life. Evelyn was a housewife, farmer, seamstress, and homemaker.

She was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums and sang with the church choir. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband John; a daughter Nancy Drumtra; brothers Morris and Raymond Houseknecht; and a sister Kathryn Wenner. Surviving are three daughters Janet Stradnick, El Cajon, CA; Kathy Stradnick, Freeland; and Lucille Wenner and her husband Richard, Drums; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother Laurence Houseknecht and his wife Marjorie, Drums; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christain Burial at 10 am in Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums. Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St. Johns. Friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday afternoon, 3-5 PM.
