Everett Charles Merritt was born the son of Chuck and Nellie Merritt Dec. 12, 1920 in Seaside, Ore. On March 10, 2019 Ev died at his foster care home.

He was 98 years and still had a wonderful sense of humor that will be missed by all. Ev was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific. After his service he worked as a truck driver for Tillamook Portland Auto Freight for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bette; daughter, Gayle Merritt; son, Rick Merritt; and his granddaughter, Cheryl Merritt. Surviving and left to honor his life are his wife of 52 years, Joan Merritt; sons, Larry Merritt (Gretchen) and Tom Merritt; daughters, Lynne Terry (David), Patti Merritt and Tracie McBeth (Gordon); step-children, Gail DeHaan (Rob) and Dana Ott; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m., March 21, 2019, at Attrell’s Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, Newberg, OR 97132.

A military service will be held after, at 1:30 p.m., in Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd. , Happy Valley, OR 97068.
