Mr. Ezell Starks, Sr. 76 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November 22, 2018. Ezell was born to the union of Hortense and Pete Starks June 14, 1942. He grew up in South Carolina where he met the love of his life, Ruth Kirkland.

They were married September 17, 1961, and to this union of 57 years was born seven children, 12 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Ezell was known to family and friends as “Shorty”. He worked for Polson Rubber in Garrettsville for 13 years.

He recently retired from Parker Hanfin with 37 years of service. Ezell was a devoted family man and a selfless provider, he loved his family. Shorty loved his Chevy trucks, they could always be identified with the “Heavy Chevy” on the back.

He enjoyed spending time with friends dancing and having a good time. He was known for his dancing skills. He liked bowling, cooking and playing pool.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hortense Fortson and Pete Starks, stepmother: Eleanor Brown, brother: Lindell Brown, son: Ronald O’neal Starks, sisters: Edna May Fortson, Emma Dee Heller. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth K. Starks; children: Mary Ann (Jay) Simon of Texas; Ezell Starks, Jr. of Ravenna; Carolyn Starks of Ravenna; Bobby Charles (Marchella) Starks of Lordstown; Lori Linette Starks of Warren; Jerome Phillip Starks of Ravenna; sisters: Mary Ann Maxwell of Copley, Mary Louise Bell of Ravenna, Holly K. Roper of Columbus, Jessie Marie Brown of Warren, Betty Jean Fortson of Akron, Wynter (Michael) Walker of California: brothers: Karim ArRasheed, and William Eddie Brown of Warren. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
