OBITUARY Father Joseph C. Underwood April 3, 1921 – October 30, 2018 Reverend Joseph C. Underwood, a priest of the Diocese of Birmingham, passed away at the age of 97. He was born in Birmingham to Jack and Mae Epperson Underwood. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later graduated from Howard College, now Samford University, with a degree in economics.

Upon graduating from Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD, Fr Underwood was ordained to the priesthood in May of 1962. Fr Underwood retired from active ministry in 1994 after serving the people of Alabama and northern Florida for over 32 years. On Monday, November 5, a Rosary will be offered for him at 9 AM at the Cathedral St Paul followed by Visitation with the Funeral Mass at 10 AM.
