Rev. Kenneth E. Taylor, 67, a priest of the Archdiocese died peacefully in the Lord on December 19, 2018. Fr.

K.T. was born on July 10, 1951, to Alvin E. and Margaret Mary (Elliott) Taylor. He attended elementary school at Holy Angels Catholic School in Indianapolis. After graduating from the Latin School of Indianapolis in 1969, and, then, attended St. Meinrad College.

He received a Master of Divinity degree from St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, MD, and was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1978. For over forty years of ministry in Indianapolis, he served at St. Monica, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Chaplain for the Newman Centers at both Butler University and IUPUI. Fr.

K.T. served as pastor of the parish communities of Holy Trinity, St. Bridget, and St. Michael the Archangel. He also served as founding Director of the Office of Multicultural Ministry for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and served in that capacity for almost 20 years. He took his commitment to God as a priest very seriously.

It didn’t matter if he was not feeling well or was exhausted. When a need was expressed, he tried to respond right away. He loved all people and worked tirelessly to connect people to one another.

He loved to laugh (he had a great laugh! ) and watch baseball, especially the San Francisco Giants and the great Willie Mays. He was positive and selfless in his service to God and God’s people!

Fr. K.T. was the longest serving president of the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus and was an indispensable contributor to the National Black Catholic Congress in the United States. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Mary Taylor, his father, Alvin E. Taylor.

He is survived by his siblings Angela Teresa Taylor of Atlanta, GA, LaVerne Taylor, Renee Taylor and V. Carol Taylor-Smith, all of Columbus, OH, as well as Alvin E. Taylor (Vorley) of Newark, OH. Other relatives include Cossetta Beaven, Betty Beaven-Hughes, Clarence Beaven Jr. (CJ) and host of other family members and friends, especially his dear and loving friends, Frank and Mary Ann Clifford. Fr.

K.T. will be commended to God’s loving care in heaven beginning with the Rite of the Reception of the Body at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, 1347 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202, with visitation continuing in the church from 4-7 p.m. A Vigil Service with prayer and words of remembrance will begin there at 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral on Friday, December 28, from 9:00 a.m.-11 p.m. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Following the funeral, the Rite of Committal and Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, and a reception banquet will immediately follow at the Archbishop Edward T. O’Meara Catholic Center, 1400 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Donations in his memory may be made in lieu of flowers to support completing the dream of building a new church at Holy Angels. Contributions should be made out to: Holy Angels Building Fund, 740 West 28th Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46208.
