OBITUARY Faye Crawford (Carr) Richardson June 27, 1917 – October 8, 2018 LaFayette “Faye” Carr Crawford Richardson, 101, of Weyers Cave, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018, at her home, “Brookside Farm” surrounded by her children. She was born June 27, 1917 in Roanoke, Va. , and was the daughter of the late Guy Floyd and LaFaye James Carr.

Faye grew up in Galax, VA. In 1939 she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Madison College (now JMU). She was president of the student body and was May Queen.

Faye was on the committee to rename the college from Harrisonburg State Teacher’s College to Madison College in 1938. Faye was a lifelong member of Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church and Women of the Church. On June 22, 1946 she married James Fillmore Crawford; he preceded her in death on February 7, 1963.

On April 2, 1967, she married William B. Richardson, who also preceded her in death on April 1, 1980. She is survived by her children, Kathy C. Arrowsmith and husband, Bob, of Lexington, SC; Beth C. Lengel and husband, Frank, of Swansea, SC; Faye C. Cooper and husband, Peter, of Staunton; James “Jim” F. Crawford, Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Harrisonburg; and J. McChesney “Mac” Crawford of Marietta, GA; 11 grandchildren: Matthew and Patrick Lengel; Nathan Arrowsmith, Jane Arrowsmith Bouknight; Benjamin and Nicholas Cooper; Jessica, Ches, John Andrew and Jenna Crawford, Christy Crawford Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Jane Walker Kerewich. She lived a life full of grace, humor, love of her family and their many friends.

A graveside service will be held at Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church, at 11 am, Saturday, October 13, 2018 with Rev. Patrick Lengel officiating and music by Jessica Crawford.
