Obituary for Fern Lucille Hogue Fern Lucille Hogue passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness May 22, 2018. Lucille was born to Elmer Ernest Dixon and Eula Mae (Cating) Dixon April 30, 1924 in Stigler, Oklahoma. She and her family lived in several locations in Oklahoma until they moved to Gentry, AR in 1937.

Lucille graduated from Gentry High School in 1942, and upon graduation went to Business School in Fayetteville, AR until 1943. While in business school, she was recruited to work for the military, and went to work at the new nuclear power development plant in Hanford, WA where she worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. Towards the end of the war, she was transferred to a new military installation in Indiana, where she worked as a purchasing agent until the end of the war.

After the war, Lucille returned home to Gentry where she reacquainted with the love of her life, Jack Evans Hogue, and they were married January 22, 1946 and they were married until Jack’s death in 2003. For several years, Lucille and Jack worked the family farm near Gentry, started and ran a local dry cleaning business, and had four children. In 1956, Jack returned to active military service, during which time Lucille was a stay at home Mom, raising their four children until Jack’s retirement from the Army in 1973.

Lucille and Jack moved to Okmulgee, OK, where Jack pursued commercial printing and illustration degrees, and after graduation they returned to Gentry, where she assisted Jack with his new print shop venture. Lucille was a lifetime member of the Order of The Eastern Star and DAV Auxiliary, a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Gentry, and an active participant in community affairs until later in life. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jack Hogue, son Linn Evans Hogue, father Elmer Ernest Dixon, mother Eula Mae Hogan, step father Tom Hogan, father and mother in- law Wesley and Daisy Hogue, sister Verna Bee Edwards, and brother Robert Lee Hogan.

Lucille is survived by son Patrick Hogue, daughter Jacquelyn Cherry, son Wes Hogue and daughter-in-law Sarah Hogue, daughter-in-law Joelle Hogue, sister Hazel Allen, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Patti Hogan, brother-in-law Lindsey Edwards, sister-in-law Joyce Hogan, five grandchildren, Monique, Teresa, Dara, Barrett and Jason, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Gentry Cemetery, Gentry, Arkansas.
