Cobleskill- Filippo Pedone, 96, formerly of Cobleskill died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, NY. Born September 25, 1922 in Bloomfield, NJ, he was the son of Antonino and Rosina Pedone. He later moved to Palermo, Italy, where he was raised, and then returned to the United States at age 16.

Filippo served in the United States Army from 1942 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1943. He lived most of his life in Brooklyn and Farmingdale, NY. A tailor and a foreman in a coat factory in Copague, Filippo would make his daughters’ coats.

He had a strong work ethic, to the point that until his nineties he was still keeping up with the routine maintenance on his home. He and his wife lived in Port Richey, FL before moving here in 2005. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening.

More recently, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were treasured as they spent time with him. He was predeceased by his wife, Vincenza “Jennie”, on May 25, 2012. Survivors include his three daughters: Diane (Tod) Nicolai of Cobleskill, Josephine (Donald) Schel and Rosemarie (Kenneth) Pucci all of Norwich; grandchildren: Loretta (Owen) Watstein, Donald (Kristen) Schel, Pamela Pucci, Brian (Kerri) Pucci, Eric (Jessica) Pucci, Scott Nicolai and Daniel Nicolai; and eight great-grandchildren: Brandon and Christian Pucci, Isabella and Lucas Pucci, Holden and Oliver Schel, Skylar and Shelby Watstein.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Cobleskill United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Hale officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 297 River St. Service Road, Oneonta, NY 13820.
