OBITUARY Findley Rush October 16, 1932 – December 12, 2018 Orville Findley Rush, known to friends as Findley, died on December 12, 2018, at age 86. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Walburga and Michael Neri, and father and stepmother, Orville and Mary Rush. Findley served in the United States Air Force before earning a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and M.S. and Ed.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He also attended the University of Notre Dame. After several years in university academe, he served as a public school administrator for more than 30 years. His Catholic faith served as the foundation for many of his passions and endeavors.

Most recently, he was a parishioner at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Williamsburg, Va. Findley was a Charter Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Annunciata Counsel in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and a member and officer of the Knights of Columbus St. Olaf Council in Williamsburg, Va. In his spare time, Findley created intricate and beautiful wood carvings, which he loved to show off to friends and family.

He was an avid sports fan, particularly of his beloved Crimson Tide, Carolina Tarheels and Fighting Irish. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Carol Rush, daughter Linda Murray (Michael Lee), sons Larry Rush, Craig Rush (Vanessa Rush), and Billy Rush (Heather Kane) and his brother Patrick Neri (Cheri Neri). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carolyn and Sean Murray, Krystle Rush, Gigi Rush and Peyton Rush, and his step-grandchildren, Maddie and Justin Lee.

The family will receive visitors at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Va 23188, on Monday, December 17, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg, Va 23188, on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Internment in Burlington, N.C., will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Boys Town, a charity he loved and admired going back to his early childhood in Nebraska.
