Gioachino F. “Jack” DeLuca, 83, of Mendon passed away on January 1, 2019, after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Agnes C. (Tetreault) DeLuca, for 64 years. Jack was born August 10, 1935 in Milford the son of the late Joseph L. and Annie (Salvia) DeLuca and was a graduate of Milford High School, class of 1953.

With his father, Joseph, Jack owned and operated Town Hall Texaco in Milford from 1947 through 1982. In the later years, the business was renamed… Read More » to DeLuca’s Service Center. Additionally, Jack served as an on-call firefighter for the Town of Mendon for 35 years.

In 1987, he was appointed as the Town of Mendon’s first full time Fire Chief and served in that position for 8 years. Jack enjoyed hunting and for many years would hunt both locally and in Maine. He was a past member of the Maspenock Rod & Gun Club in Milford.

Jack and his wife, Agnes, enjoyed many years traveling to various destinations in their motor coach, including a cross country trip in 1982. As active members in the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA), they made many friends along the way. Jack was also a licensed real estate agent.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Agnes, he is survived by his sons, Joseph M. DeLuca and his wife Nancy of Mendon and Steven L. DeLuca and his wife Sherry Lynn of Upton; two sisters, Philomena Ablondi of Milford and Carol Patete of Franklin; three grandchildren, Donna DeLuca, Susan Corman and Richard DeLuca, and two great-grandchildren, Sam and Alice Corman. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael J. DeLuca. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 151 Mendon Street, Upton. Burial will follow at Swan Dale Cemetery, Hartford Ave. , East, Mendon.
