Obituary for Florence Elizabeth Smagala Florence Elizabeth Smagala passed away on June 1, 2018, at the age of 90. She was a loving wife to Stanley Smagala (1916 – 1998). The couple married on September 28, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York.

She was a mother to seven children, Linda, Robert (Deborah), Gary (Kathy), Thomas (Patricia), Drew, James (Denise), and Stanley Jr. (1965 – 2001)(Dena). She had 17 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Florence will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Florence was born on February 12, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, but lived in Deer Park, Long Island for 30 years before moving to Florida in 1988. Besides her full-time job of raising a large household of lively – and sometimes unruly – children, she was also a jewelry store manager. Famous for her perogies, chrusciki, platskis, and kapusta, she loved to entertain a full house and feed her family polish delicacies that she learned to make from her father, Alexander Liskewicz (1893 – 1971), mother Anna (1902 – 1944), and step-mother Sophia (1897 – 1988).

She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church of Spring Hill. The services will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 1 pm at Grace Memorial Funeral Home in Hudson, Florida. She will be laid to rest in a shared niche with her husband, Stanley in Grace Memorial Gardens.
