Florinda’s Obituary Florinda Martha Hooper 79 of Merrillville passed away on February 17, 2019 at St. Mary Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born on October 30, 1939 in Gary, Indiana to the late Miguel(Tula Martinez) Lazaro. Flo worked in retail until retirement.

She was an avid “Cubs” fan, loved cooking, especially her homemade tortilla’s, loved to shop, loved playing bingo at the Ahepa Lodge 78 in Hobart, and St. Francis Church in Lake Station. Florinda was also a breast cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings; Johnny, Mike, Ray, Connie.

Survived by children; Janet Hooper, Ronna(Michael) Stepnoski, Rich Rollensen, siblings; Art, Sam, Chico, Lisa, Becky, Vicki, rose, Tula, Kimmy, grandchildren; Anthony, Adam, Braxton, Aaron, Andrew, Tyler, Evan, Mia, great grandchildren; Isabella and Noah. A visitation for Florinda will be held on Saturday February 23, 2019 from 11 AM-1 PM at the Southlake Worship Center 3440 W. 61st Avenue Hobart, Indiana 46342. A funeral service will be on Saturday February 23, 2019 at 1 PM at the Southlake Worship Center with Pastor Sam Abbott officiating, as per family wishes cremation rites will follow the services.
