Forrest L. Champlin, 81, of Belding, passed away Tuesday March 5, 2019 at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. Forrest was born on March 19, 1937 in Grand Ledge, the son of Jay and Mildred (Sweet) Champlin. After graduating high school Forrest proudly served his country in the US Army being discharged in February of 1963.

He later retired in 1999 from Extruded Metals after 44 years of service. He was a long time member of the United Auto Workers Local Number 4. Forrest enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a big time hobby farmer.

He was proud to have donated many gallons of blood throughout his life. He and his wife Narva enjoyed trips to Arizona, Alaska and many other states. Forrest was hard working, honest and a good family man.

He will greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Narva and their children; James (Nancy) Huey, Michael (Judy) Huey, Patrick (Kimberly) Huey all of Belding, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, siblings; Dorothea Wyngarden of Holland, Charles (Jackie) Champlin of Trufant, Keith Champlin of Belding, Johnny Champlin of Kent City and Jeanette Botello of Belding and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eugene, brother-in-law; Wendy Wyngarden, two sisters-in-law; Eleanor and Alice. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 11, 2019 at Johnson Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger officiating.

Committal prayers will follow in Orleans Twp Cemetery with Military Honors being given by the joint Honor Guard of the Belding American Legion and VFW. After the service at the cemetery a luncheon will take place at Shiloh Community Church. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Memorials may be given to Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
