Obituary for Frances Bridges (Lofton) On Sunday, January 6, 2019 we were saddened by the departure of our beloved Frances Ernestine Bridges (Lofton). She was 88 years old. Frances Ernestine Bridges (Lofton) was born in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late William and Inez Lofton on May 24, 1930.

She attended public schools in Greensboro, North Carolina and after migrating to Boston, Massachusetts she attended Boston public schools and graduated from Girls High School. Frances was a devoted wife, mother and friend. On May 11, 1957 she was united in marriage to Willie B. Bridges her loving husband for sixty-one years.

From that union two beautiful children were born, Stacey B. Thomas and Darren M. Bridges. Frances was a longstanding member of the Columbus Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on the Adelaide Eaton Usher Board and a longtime member of the Electrons Bowling League for many years. She worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company for many years.

Frances faithfully ran the hot lunch program for seniors at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Mattapan, Massachusetts. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Willie B. Bridges, her caring daughter Stacey B. Thomas, son Darren M. Bridges of Boston, son-in-law; Victor T. Thomas, her two granddaughters: Victoria E. M. Thomas and Cierrah N. Bridges and grandsons: Victor M. Thomas and Jamal R. Bridges; nieces Denise Lofton of Springfield, MO, Christina Schuler of Aurora, Illinois and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Maude I. Simmons, Marian J. Young and William Lofton Jr. A Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 O’clock at Columbus Avenue AME Zion Church 600 Columbus Ave.
