Francis J. “Frankie” Bernard, Jr. April 30, 1967 – December 18, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Frankie passed away on Tuesday December 18th at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was 51 years of age. Born and raised in Chelsea he was a beloved son of Mary L. (Manning) Bernard and the late Francis J, Bernard, Sr. Frankie attended local schools and was a graduate of Chelsea High School, he also attended Massachusetts College of Art.

Frankie plied himself as a talented and professional cartoonist. He was a featured editorial cartoonist for the Chelsea Record and Journal Transcript Publications, he also worked several years as a caricature artist in Boston’s Faneuil Hall Market. Frankie gave art lessons at Bunker Hill Comm.

College and at several after school programs at the Williams School in Chelsea and the Center for Adult Ed. in Cambridge. He would frequently attend monthly luncheon gatherings with fellow artists in Boston area restaurants and had traveled to and attended many national artist conventions across the country over the years.

Frankie is survived by his beloved mother Mary L. Bernard of Chelsea. He was the dear brother of Christopher Bernard and his partner Christine of Revere, Maureen Jurgelewicz and her husband Paul of Norwood, MA and Michael Bernard of Salem. Cherished uncle of Michael, Mason and Aubree Bernard, and Marissa and Cody Jurgelewicz.

Adored nephew of Kate and Michael Manning of Sandwich and Hingham and John Flangan of FL. He is also survived by many cousins and extended family members. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral and visitation at the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Saturday December 22nd from 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. The visitation will be followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Grace Church 59 Nichols St. Chelsea at 10:00 A.M. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
