6, 1928 to Frank and Beatrice (Ledet) Pfeiffer. Loving husband of 65 years to Loretta (Schaub) Pfeiffer; father of Curtis (Rose Lee), Linda Pere, Ken (Cheryl) and Lisa (Anthony) Feicht; grandfather of Anita (Johnny), Becky, Grace, Holly, Jessica (Alex), Anthony Jr., Alex, Angel, Ashley, Audrey; great-grandfather of Brody, Stella and Gunner; mentor to many. Francis was a 1946 graduate of CBC, Veteran of WWII and proud bugler of the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy Reserve.
Self-employed, investor and founder of many successful businesses including the Snow Cone Tricycle Route. He operated the family parking lots behind the Fox Theater starting at age 13. Francis became a bookseller in 1959 and went on to become the oldest bookseller in St. Louis.
House of Publications, Busy Bee Distributing, All Star News Agency, Paperback Supply, Airmont Distributing, Book King, Book A Rama, Loretta’s Hallmark Store, Francis Distributing, Godfrey Bookstore, Bargain Books and A1 Books. He was known as “The Book Man” at both the Pevely and Barnhart flea markets. He enjoyed riding his bicycle.
Remarkably he raced to New Orleans on a tandem bicycle with his friend Wallace in the 1940’s and also took a bike tour through Mexico. His love of music started early with playing the trumpet, piano and harmonica. He was a current piano student at Meramec Community College for the last 31 years and loved pulling out his student ID for a discount.
