Obituary for Francis Marcella McCoy It is with great sadness that the family of Francis Marcella McCoy, born June 7, 1938 to Ralph and Sarah Jane Shipman, announces her passing after a 30 year battle with diabetes, on October 14, 2018. Marcella passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband, Ronnie. Marcella and Ronnie enjoyed 56 years of an adventurous marriage, with 40 of those years being active in the United States Army.
They enjoyed living in many places in the US and abroad, which included Germany. While there, Marcella traveled all over looking for an adoptable baby. After a 15 month search, she found an 11 month old baby girl, who they eventually brought home as Shafan Suzanne McCoy.
She joined “Ricky” who became her big brother. Rick and wife Patrice, Shafan Bryan and Chris Minnich, along with grandchildren Jimmy Bryan, Stephanie Willett, Darlene Bryan, Lindsay Luffy and Jamie Bryan; great grandchildren Nolan Ratliff, Marcie Luffy and Everett Luffy; and sister in law Donna McCoy Erwin survive her. Marcella fiercely loved her family and her Lord Jesus Christ.
She approached every role in her life, whether as a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother or a friend with love. She loved these roles. She showed this love especially in the way she cared for her Mother, “Nana Jane,” for many years at their home and then at a nursing home.
Also, she had the special opportunity to help raise her granddaughter, Lindsay, in her first few years of life. She counted these two opportunities a blessing and found great value in those roles. Marcella was a devoted homemaker who prided herself in creating a beautiful home and being beautiful herself.
She was a good listener, great conversationalist and made herself available in whatever ways she could. She loved giving gifts, receiving gifts and celebrating holidays and birthdays and anniversaries. Marcella was quite the shopper, loved doing all kinds of crafts, was a skilled organizer and home manager, loved reading novels, cookbooks and poems of faith and singing old gospel songs.
She even sang with a group on the radio as a child and remembered that fondly. Her favorite charity was the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home and she was a member of Parker Road Baptist Church in Florissant, MO. A memorial service to celebrate her life and home-going will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark, MO.
Interment will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 9 – 9:30 A.M. immediately before the memorial service at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Francis Marcella McCoy please visit our Sympathy Store.
