Obituary for Frank Joseph Szalay Jr. FRANK JOSEPH SZALAY, JR. Born in New York on May 3, 1945 to Margaret and Frank Joseph Szalay, Sr who proceeded him in death. Frank spent a good portion of his life with Uncle Al and Aunt Pauline who taught him so much about life.

Frank died on July 12, 2018 due to heart and cancer complications at the young age of 73 in Miami, FL. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 38 years, Pamela (Moody) Szalay. Frank graduated from college in New York and started his career in the accounting field of merchandising.

He moved to Miami in 1974 where he worked as an assistant controller for Richards Department Stores until they closed in 1980. Frank had a passion for customizing high end cars, where one of his personal customized Corvettes was showcased in the WORLD OF WHEELS. After his successful run in the car industry he decided to go back into the Financial field that he also loved.

He retired in 2012 from the marketing and research industry as a SVP/ CFO. Frank was also an avid fisherman and loved to be out on the ocean with Pamela. Leaving behind, besides his loving wife, Pamela, his extremely close sisters-in-law, Twinkle Price (Dick) and Sharron Sullivan (Mark) who loved him as a true brother also including many nieces and nephews and a great niece who all loved him dearly.

He is also survived by a distant brother, James Szalay (Dee) of Palm Bay, FL and a distant sister Linda Allen (Bob) of New York. The many friends he had who meant so much to him here in Miami as well as Hartwell, GA, he would call them “our family”. In 1995 to 1998 he battled Leukemia and became a medical miracle due to the wonderful, Dr Alberto Larcada along with the Dana Farber Team in Boston.

Frank experienced a heart attack in 2003 and thanks to Dr Alvaro Gomez he survived. He was a true fighter with such a positive attitude for life and family. He will be missed by many.
