Frederick Davis, 88 formerly of the Duncan Falls, Philo area, passed away on May 26, 2018 at Monterey Care Center in Grove City. Fred was born in Zanesville on June 21, 1929. He is the son of the late Fred and Esther (Kassel) Davis.

He was a heavy equipment operator while proudly serving in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1991 after 29 years at the Central Ohio Coal Company where he worked as a supervisor on the Big Muskie. He was a member of the Philo United Methodist Church, a 50+ year member of Anchor Lodge F&AM #283 where he served as past master; a member of Earnest G. Walsh American Legion Post #246 of Duncan Falls, VFW George Selsam Post #1058, The Aladdin Shrine Club, a former member of the Wayne Township Fire Department where he served as Past Fire Chief.

As one of Fred’s many business ventures Fred was a founding partner of Phi-Dunc Better TV, the first cable television to the Philo-Duncan Falls area. Fred is survived by his two daughters, Shellie Haughn of Grove City and Sherrie Dailey of Augusta, GA; his four grandchildren, Michael C. (Pearl) Dailey, Megan L. (Spencer) Vinco, Mollie E. (Josh) Bryant and Meredith L. Dailey; two great-grandchildren, Matilda and Henry Vinco; his brother, Bob (Julie) Davis of Philo and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Norma “Clell” Davis, his granddaughter Joni Lynn Dailey, his brother John Davis and his son-in-law Michael Haughn.

Anchor Lodge will hold Masonic Services at 8 pm, Thursday. Visitations will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday. Frank Clifton officiate the service.

He will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by George Selsam Post #1058, the American Legion Post #29 and the US Marine Corps Color Guard.
