Gary Paul “Gunner” Auclair, 68, passed away March 8, 2019 at home. Born in Springfield to the late Hector J. and Mary R. (Faita) Auclair, he grew up in Chicopee and was a long time resident of Three Rivers. Gary was a well-regarded carpenter, running his own business, “Gary Auclair Carpentry” for many years.

He was an avid outdoorsman and naturalist. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, bird watching and hiking. Gary had a passion for taking long drives and he explored all over New England.

The beaches of Rhode Island and Cape Cod were some of his favorite trips. Gunner loved live music, especially concerts at the Iron Horse. A big hockey fan, he loved cheering for his favorite team, the Boston Bruins.

Gary had a green thumb, and his “tomato” plants were known to “brighten the colors” in anyone’s day. He leaves his former wife Barbara and his son Jeff of California. He also leaves many friends, including Gary and Mary Provost of Springfield, John Duffy and Sophia Maynard of Ludlow, the Duffy family, and Ramona Davis and Rick Wingard of Longmeadow.

Thank you to the many doctors and nurses who helped Gary throughout his battle with cancer. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 from 5:00-7:00pm at Nowak Funeral and Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave. Springfield.
