Obituary for Gary N. Carpenter Gary Neal Carpenter, 67 of Valley Park, MO passed away on 07/21/2018 at Des Peres Hospital due to complications of cancer. Gary was born on November 18, 1950 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Iroval Neal Carpenter and Ruby Mae (Bergin) Carpenter. He is survived by his wife Joeliene Carpenter nee Howard, son William Carpenter (Andrea Carpenter), daughters Sara Carpenter (Chris Schmidt) and Melissa Boettge (Alex Boettge), three grandsons Isaac Bruns, Wil Carpenter and Reece Boettge and three granddaughters Natalie Moore, Abby Moore and Morgan Boettge.

Gary was a 1969 graduate of Dupo High School. After, high school Gary served in the United States Army from 1971-1973 and went on to pursue a long career in drilling and environmental remediation. He loved his work and equally enjoyed his retirement.

Gary loved classic rock and Kurt Vonnegut, history and politics, comedies, fishing, story-telling, bad jokes (emphasis on bad), the grandkids, his wife’s cooking and his dog Jack. He will be remembered as a kind and simple man who never took himself too seriously and always kept a sense of humor even up until his final days. We will forever miss his smile and big laugh.

Graveside service 07/24/2018, 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Valley Park, MO with luncheon to follow at the Brignole Center in Valley Park.
