Mrs. Gayle Lyndon Obranic, 61, of Loxahatchee, Florida, passed away on February 9, 2019 from complications related to surgery. Gayle was born in Richmond, Virginia on November 27, 1957, the daughter of Robert P. Brown and the late Wilna Blackwell Brown. Gayle is survived by her husband, George Obranic of 37 years; daughters Jennifer Obranic, Ashley Rupprecht, son-in-law Jonathan Rupprecht, Amy Obranic, and Christine Obranic along with grandchildren Anna Rupprecht and Nathaniel Rupprecht, father Robert P. Brown and sister Gwynne Brown.

Gayle always put Jesus Christ and family first. She loved her husband, George, who was her best friend and confidant. As a daughter and sister, she always wanted the best for her Dad and sister.

After moving to Florida at an early age, Gayle was the Salutatorian of Hollywood Christian School, and later graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Following her undergraduate work, Gayle studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville and worked as a respiratory therapist. Gayle was one of the first pioneers of homeschooling in South Florida.

She homeschooled all four of her daughters, while encouraging them to participate in all types of athletic, civic, and charitable groups. She spent countless hours supporting her children in competitive swimming, equestrian competitions, and Civil Air Patrol. Her volunteering heart caused so much good for so many people, especially children through the youth programs Daughters/Children of the American Revolution and was a Palm Beach County 4-H leader for over 24 years.

In addition to homeschooling her own children, Gayle was passionate about enriching other homeschooling families by teaching over the years hundreds of children in local homeschooling groups. She believed that education should be hands-on and FUN. Gayle was thrilled when a young mind would be enlightened by the courses, she taught whether it be biology, chemistry, aerospace, botany, history, art, science or anatomy.

We know Gayle was loved by those who took her classes; but most importantly, Gayle loved imparting the process of learning which would carry her students throughout their lives. Her goals for teaching were that she would encourage children to become life-long learners who would always love learning. As a young person, she was very athletic and competed in many sports.

In high school, she started a Girls Varsity Basketball team. She was an avid water skier, swimmer, dancer, and tennis player. Later in life Gayle loved traveling, particularly to historical locations where she would develop her history class curriculum.

In her spare time, Gayle would work on all types of crafts, and she loved gardening. The latter included creating green houses with seeds to vegetables and to flowers. A true green thumb.

In recent years, she had grand babies come into her life. Oh, how she loved them! She focused her experience in educating to help with the start of homeschooling of her grandchildren, by spending time teaching them art lessons and sitting down and making hundreds of creative crafts.

How blessed we were to have had her part of our lives. Gayle you will be missed by many and thought of by many every day. Your influence in the lives of so many people is immeasurable.
