Gayle Marie Hasslinger, 72, of Pewaukee, was called to eternal life on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc. Gayle was born on April 18, 1947 in Chicago to the late Camille and Alice (Brunet) Butzek. She was raised in St. Mary’s Parish in Menomonee Falls and graduated from Menomonee Falls High School.

On September 13, 1969 Gayle was united in marriage to Michael Hasslinger. They were married 49 years. She earned an associate degree in Medical Terminology from Waukesha Community Technical College and worked as a medical secretary.

Gayle was an avid gardener who spent some of her happiest moments planning her gardens and then digging in the dirt to plant and nurture the plants. She was amazingly adept at helping things grow. Gayle was a believer in family and in Jesus.

She found comfort in the rosary, as did her mother. She was a long time member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Pewaukee. Gayle is survived by her husband, Michael; her two children, Michael (Kristin) Hasslinger of Milwaukee and Andrea (Mike) Chapman Hasslinger of Arcadia, Wisconsin.

Michael and Andrea felt her love every day of their lives. She is further survived by two sisters and two brothers; Lynda (Edward) Ossi and family of Jacksonville, Florida; Sandra Kersten and family of Hubertus; Greg (Jeannie) Butzek and family of Middleton; and John Butzek of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gayle was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Nicholas Butzek.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, with the Very Reverend Monsignor Ross Shecterle as celebrant. Internment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Menomonee Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for those to remember her by planting something in the ground at their home and help it to grow.

Gayle’s family thanks Angels Grace Hospice for their care and compassion.
