Gaynell Hawks Wells was born January 5, 1925 to the late Willis and (Beulah Little) Hawks in Madison County, GA. She departed this life on February 11, 2019 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Deacon William E. Wells, Sr., son, Wayne Wells, four brothers: Rev.

Willie B. Hawks, John F. Hawks, Rev. Adell Hawks, and Edward C. Hawks. Mrs. Wells was a faithful and active member of Black Springs Baptist Church, Commerce and served as church treasurer until her illness.

She was also a member of the Gainesville Prayer Band. For 36 years she worked at Conagra as a poultry worker. She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Mary Bonds, Commerce; one Sister-in-law, Juanita Hawks; one son, William (Starris) Wells, Jr; two daughters, Deborah (Robert) Faulkner and Vanessa (Oz) Roberts, Columbus, GA.

Her legacy also includes ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; and a host of treasured nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Black Springs Baptist Church, 730 Fort Lamar Road, Commerce, GA 30530.
