Gene A. Ranstead, 95, of Wabash, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 12:07 a.m. at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born in Breman, Indiana to the late Forrest and Gladys (Martin) Ranstead on September 10, 1922. Gene was a 1940 graduate of Silver Lake High School.

He married Marcille L. Beigh on April 12, 1941; she passed away on May 10, 2014. Gene retired from Honeywell, Inc. in 1979. He was a member of the Peoria Church in Miami County, the Hanna Masonic Lodge #61, Mizpahs Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Wabash Shriners, Wabash Eagles Lodge and The Wabash Isaak Walton League.

Gene was an avid fisherman. Gene is survived by daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Tucker in Wabash, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Lynn Proebstle of Lagro, Indiana, Mrs. Joel (Julie) Thurman of Noblesville, Indiana, Cynthia McDonald (David Burns) of Wabash, Indiana, Matthew Christman (Kim) of Markle, Indiana, Mrs. James (Angela) Perez of Peru, Indiana, Melinda Hults of Peru, Indiana, Mark Hults (Dena) of Wabash, Indiana, and Christopher Hults (Alisha) of Peru, Indiana; and 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Valena Beigh, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip, daughter, Shirley Mills, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Brian Daniels officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m. Preferred memorials are directed to Shriners Children Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60707.
