Obituary for Gene M. Cornew Gene M. Cornew, 87, South River, formerly of Lawrenceville, passed Friday June 1st at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Born in Princeton, she was a long time Lawrenceville resident. Mrs. Cornew was an LPN at Princeton Hospital until 1963 when she retired to raise her family.

Later, she was a teacher’s aide and substitute nurse at St. Ann’s School. She enjoyed reading detective stories and mysteries, crossword puzzles, traveling to Atlantic City, camping, crafts. She loved animals Daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie Cummings Danbury, wife of the late John Cornew Jr., sister of the late Robert Danbury, Mary Breese and Alice Cook, she is survived by her son, John Cornew III of Lindenwold, NJ; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Andrew Plichta of South River; her brother-in-law, Harry Cook Sr., nieces and nephews and her faithful cat Spooky.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30am in the Chapel of the Church of Saint Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery.
