Gene Cotner, 70 of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Tulsa. Gene was born on January 15, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana, a son of Howard Eugene Cotner and Betty Jean Pehlgrim Cotner. Gene married the love of his life Julie Cotner and from this union they had one son Christopher Drew Cotner.

He was a 1966 graduate from Memorial High School in Tulsa, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He earned his master’s degrees in both civil engineering and mechanical engineering.

Gene was a career student, always willing to learn. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sand Springs. He loved to travel to Mexico and loved all kinds of music.

Gene is survived by his son, Christopher Drew Cotner of San Francisco, California; father, Howard Cotner of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister, Debra Hnath and husband John of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, Robert David Cotner of Blanchard, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Cotner; mother, Betty Jean Pehlgrim Cotner and one sister, Janet Cotner.
