Gene H. Gray Martinez, GA – Mr. Gene Hughes Gray, 83, entered into rest September 11, 2018. Mr. Gray was born in Brownsville, TN to the late Lessie Mixon Hughes. He was raised and loved by the late Thomas Watson Gray and the late Gladys Gray Cox.

Mr. Gray was a native of Columbia County, GA and graduated from Evans High School. He retired as a conductor from CSX Railroad with 42 years of service. Mr. Gray enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling with his wife.

He was also a member of Marvin United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Beverley Wright Gray and brother, Daniel Hughes. Survivors include his son, Christopher Gray (Robyn) of Grovetown, GA; daughter, Vicky Gray Weaver (Michael) of Lafayette, GA; sister, Lessie Gray Chapman (George) of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Weaver, Benjamin Weaver, McKenzie Gray, and Carrington Gray, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 14 at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Elizabeth Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home and from 10 until 11 a.m., Friday at Marvin United Methodist Church. Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd. , Thomson, Georgia is honored to serve the Gray family.
