Gene S. Fish, 87 of East Jordan, died January 18, 2019 at home. He was born December 16, 1931, in Hillsdale county, the son of David and Julia (Caulkins) Fish. Gene was self-employed for many years as a carpenter and farmer.

He enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting and was a puzzle king. He loved to spend time with little kids and always found a way to make them laugh through his teasing. In 2014 he moved north from Howard City to retire.

Surviving Gene is his wife Charlotte, his daughter Penny (Al) Schmidt of Lupton, brothers Ellis “Bill” Fish of Missouri, Clark “Jim” Fish of Hillsdale, niece Vicki (Bram) Christy of Jonesville, grandchildren Corey Ward, Casey Schmidt, Christy Schmidt, several great grandchildren, special little buddy Johnathon Antaya, and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gerry Moore, and brother John Fish. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be given to the American Legion Post 393, 37661 W 5th St, Hulbert, MI 49748, where he was a member. Arrangements have been handled by the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook www.
