Gene “Spooter” Kubis, 54, of McHenry, was born Jan. 9, 1964 in Waukegan, and passed away Oct. 4, 2018 at home surrounded by family.

Spooter was a Certified Master Chevrolet Technician for more than 30 years, and was an avid car enthusiast. He was kind in spirit, generous of heart, and always willing to lend a hand. Spooter was an amazing husband, father, and friend.

He loved well and was well loved. Spooter is survived by his loving wife, Stacey Kubis; loving daughter, Cassidy Elizabeth Kubis; dear nephew, who was like a son to him, Daniel “Deeder” (Jamie) Lewey, Jr.; brothers, Richard (Linda) Lewey and John (Roxanne) Lewey; sister-in-law, Lori Lewey; parents-in-law, Sherry and Ray Lada; brother-in-law, David (Carol) Tornatore; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Spooter was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Inez (Lenzen) Kubis, and brother, Daniel Lewey, Sr. A memorial visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 4-8 PM at CrossPoint Church, 27430 W. Nippersink Rd.
