OBITUARY Gene Wistner March 1, 1927 – September 25, 2018 Gene Wistner, age 91, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Gene was born March 1, 1927 in Buffalo, New York to parents, Ernest and Emma (Odie) Wistner. Gene graduated from Burgard High School.

He was a US Army Veteran. Gene belonged to Local Union #395 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He also was very proud of his time spent on the construction of the Niagara Falls Power Project.

Gene owned E.E. Wistner Furniture in the 1970’s and retired from General Motors in 1989. Gene was an avid reader who also loved to travel, cook and garden. Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Wistner, Robert Wistner, and Norma Fisher; along with his first wife, Phyllis Wistner.

He is survived by his current wife of 22 years, Bonnie Wistner; sons, James Wistner (Susan), Charles Wistner (Karen); daughter, Jeanne Piasecki (Joseph); brother, James Wistner; and ten grandchildren. A visitation for Gene will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652. A funeral service will occur Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and burial will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens.
