February 19, 1943 – October 19, 2018 Gene Douglas Bradley of Jefferson, Oregon passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Albany at the age of 75. He was born in Salem, Oregon to Douglas and Edith Bradley. Gene joined the military in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army until 1964.

In 1972, he took over the Bradley Bus Company from his father which served schools in Jefferson, Scio, and Mari-Linn school in Lyons Oregon. He decided to sell the company in 1997, which at that time had been running for 64 years and was the longest running private contractor business in the state of Oregon. Gene started a side-business doing metal recycling with friend and business partner, Don Easdale, and loved rummaging for antiques.

He played softball in the 70’s and 80’s as well as coached women’s softball. He was a great story and joke teller, always making people smile and laugh, always had time to take his grandkids riding on his tractor, and dearly loved his yorkies, Lady, Bubba, Hemi, and Higgins. On December 11, 1991, Gene married Laurie Hodges.

They remained together for 26 years until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Bradley of Jefferson, Oregon; three sons, John Bradley (wife Shelly) of Ridgecrest, California, Kyler Shinn (wife Kari) of Albany, Oregon, and Jess Haphey of Vancouver, Washington; three grandchildren, Dakota, Kyntlee, and Kashton; father-in-law, Bill Hodges of Albany, Oregon; sister-in-law, Nicole; brothers-in-law, Wade, Steven, and Gene; cousins, Jan, Kay, and Carl; and two brothers. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Noble “Doug” Bradley and Edith Bradley.
