General “Gene” Lewis Wood, of Long Grove passed away peacefully with his loving wife and son by his side on January 10, 2019. He was born on November 16, 1949 in La Grange, TX to Willard and Bernice (nee Keilers) Wood. Gene was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War era.

Gene was a devoted husband and father and will deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Ellen (nee Augustyn); son, David; grandsons, Eli and Levi; his mother; brother, Willard Wood; sister, Nina Daniel; and by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by, his father; his father and mother in law, Al and Alice Augustyn. Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 4 PM until 7 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd.

, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 14 at the funeral home from 9 AM until prayers at 9:30 AM. Procession to St. Francis Catholic Church to follow for 10 AM Mass.
