Rose Hanes, 97, of Ottawa, KS passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Ransom Memorial Health in Ottawa, KS. She was born April 24, 1921 in Ottawa, KS the daughter of Orral and Bertha (Coleman) Staneart. She grew up and attended schools in Ottawa, graduating from the Ottawa High School in 1938.

On March 31, 1940 she was united in marriage to Charles Harold Hanes at Iola, KS. They shared over sixty-two years of marriage before the death of her husband on December 25, 2002. Rose worked for the J. Todd Insurance Company in Ottawa.

She later worked for the City of Ottawa in the Billing Department as a Computer Operator for seventeen years, retiring in 1985. She and her husband enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with their family, who were the most precious thing in her life. She dearly loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also enjoyed spending many winters in Texas after her retirement. Rose was known for her bead work. She made hundreds of Christmas Ornaments.

Mrs. Hanes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; three sisters, Juanita Baxter, Joy Hildebrandt, and Katie Crowe; a brother, Butch Staneart; a son-in-law, Gary Burns; a grandson-in-law, Rick Sawin; and great granddaughter, Heidi Anderson. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Burns of Ottawa, KS; two grandchildren, Sherry Sawin of Princeton, KS and Cindy Anderson and her husband Darrell of Ottawa, KS; three great-grandchildren, B.J. Sawin and his wife, Bre, Bridgette Wilson and her husband Leland and Misty Kems; and five great-great-grandchildren, Brody Sawin, Adalynn Rose, Isabella and Camden Wilson, and Alex Kems. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.

Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February, 13, 2019 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Franklin County Cancer Foundation and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
