George’s Obituary George E. Davis, 69, of Portland, passed away on April 29, 2019 at St. Joseph’s in Portland, Maine. George was born in Portland to George W. and Dorothy Jane Davis on July 6, 1949. Growing up, he attended the South Portland school system.

He was employed as a Housekeeper for Maine Medical Center for 18 years. He had also worked for Unum Insurance and Lafayette Hotel. While living at the Iris Park Apartments, George enjoyed his daily walks to the park, sometimes 3 times daily!

He enjoyed talking to people he met on the way. George also loved old movies, especially those starring John Wayne. On TV, one of his favorite shows was Murder, She Wrote.

The most important thing to George was providing for his family. After 18 years working at Maine Medical Center, he had to retire due to declining health. He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Deborah Jean Collins.

George is survived by his sons, George W. Davis of Windham and Daniel E. Davis of Freeport; his sister, Mary Sullivan and her husband, Jim of Cape Elizabeth; brothers Bill Corkran and his wife, Lorraine of Palm Coast, FL, Wayne Davis and his wife Patti of Garden Grove, CA, Steven Davis and his partner, Matthew of San Francisco, CA; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:30 am Monday, July 22, 2019 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215 or at www. diabetes.org. George’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Charles Cole, St. Josephs Manor, the Iris Network, and also to Ed and his volunteers for helping with grocery shopping.
