Obituary for George Hitt Print George Wesley Hitt, 83, entered into his Heavenly home from Baptist Memorial Nursing Home on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Born November 29, 1935 in Calhoun City, he was the son of the late George Ruben Hitt and the late Ruby Lee Jennings Hitt. George attended Pleasant Hill School, and later graduated from Calhoun City High School.

On March 9, 1956, he married Martha Ann, and together they raised a daughter and two sons. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was retired from USG in Greenville, MS where he served as Maintenance Supervisor. George loved his country, and proudly served in the United States Air Force.

He was a man with a passion for fixing things. In his free time he loved to be piddling on things, from lawn mowers to vehicles. He greatly enjoyed finding things he could restore to its like-new condition.

Above all, his relationships with God and with his family were his top priority. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but his memory will be cherished in their hearts forever. Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving George’s family.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro.

Danny Spratlin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Jacobs, Trey Lomax, Michael Gordon, Curtis Gordon, Tyler Hitt, and Stephen Hitt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Russell and Gary Hitt. He leaves behind his daughter, Sherry (Henry) Lomax of Cary, MS; two sons, Kenny (Vonda) Hitt of Greenville, MS, and Terry (Jill) Hitt of American Fork, UT; a sister, June (Richard) Lewis of Woodville, MS; a brother, Mike (Melinda) Hitt of Calhoun City; six grandchildren, Wesley (Christy) Jacobs of Greenville, Trey (Shelly) Lomax of Cary, MS, Amanda (David) Huddleston of Greenville, Tyler Hitt of Oxford, Anna (Frank) Vámosi of Greenville, and Michael Hitt of Hot Springs, AR; he was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Libbie, Wes, Payton, Mason, Peyton, and Kensley. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha Ann Hitt, a sister, Betty Lockwood; and two brothers, Glen Allen Hitt and John Howell Hitt.
