OBITUARY George Joseph Schwing September 22, 1969 – July 15, 2018 George Joseph Schwing George Schwing, born September 22nd 1969, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 48 on Sunday, July 15th. George was a dedicated father, brother, and son. He was loved by all he met for his witty humor and sheer authenticity.

George was always there for whomever needed him, even strangers. He was a hero to many. He recently retired from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department after 18 years of service.

He is survived by his 14 year old daughter, Brianna Schwing; mother, Joanne Schwing; father, Hans George Schwing; stepmother, Peggy Schwing; sister, Michelle Schwing; brother, Michael Schwing; brother, Derrick Shields; sister, Tracey Shields; sister, Tiffany O’Connell; aunt and cousins, nieces and nephews including Brittany, Garrett, and Luke Hovind, and dearly loved dog, Bailey. Funeral service is scheduled for 3:30pm Saturday, July 21st at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Dr. in Fort Myers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 – 3:30 pm.
