OBITUARY George Mabry McMahan October 21, 1915 – November 11, 2018 George Mabry McMahan passed away November 11, 2018. Born in Houston, Texas, on October 21, 1915 to Horace George and Lillian Agnes McMahan. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, and retired from Hughes Tool Company as Staff Assistant, Heat Treat Department after 49 years of service.

He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army as a Technical Sergeant with the 96th Infantry Division, 796 Ordinance Company. He was the last surviving Charter Member and Past Master of Bellaire Masonic Lodge, 1336, AF&AM as well as a member and Past Patron of Bellaire Chapter, 1921, Order of the Easter Star. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Iris McMahan; daughter Dorothy Eileen Sowell; son-in law, Henry Sowell; grandson Jeffery Steven Sowell and Brothers Jack Wallace and Harry Dick McMahan.

He is survived by grandson, Michael Sowell and wife, Mandy; granddaughter, Patricia and husband, Todd Wright; grandson, Craig Sowell and wife, Robin; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha McMahan, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would like to thank Cindy Jackson and the staff of Clarewood House, his residence for the last 12 years, and the staff of Grace Hospice for their wonderful care. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018, public viewing beginning at 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 pm, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
