Obituary for George Michael “Mike” Fry George Michael “Mike” Fry, 65, passed away in the comfort of his home November 27, 2018 in Ogden, UT after a two-year battle with complications from a severe stroke. He was born February 22, 1953 in Malad, ID to George and Shirley Mae Price Fry. He married Sheryl Bond and to this union they were blessed with 3 children.
They later divorced. He later met and married the love of his life, Danette Maisey Cline spending 32 wonderful years together. To this union she brought her 2 children.
At the age of 2, his family moved to Ogden UT where he attended Ogden Schools and graduated from Bonneville High School. After graduating, Mike was able to pursue his passion for autobody and painting by opening his own business that through his diligence, hard work and talent, was successful for 35 years. Mike was an avid sports fan.
He was a volunteer coach for his kid’s sports teams. He never missed a Jazz Game and could have been an official Weber State cheerleader with his “Weber State, Weber State, Great Great Great” Song. He loved spending time with family at Bear Lake and was famous for his “Mike Fry Special Breakfast” for those that came to visit.
He enjoyed Country Music, boating, golfing, hunting, fishing and off-road trails. He loved spending time with his family and would light up when any of them came into the room, especially the Grandchildren and Danette. He loved nature and wildlife and commonly pulled over while on a drive to watch some deer, elk or even a pheasant.
He taught his family that love of nature and the ability to see the beauty of it. He looked forward to his Steelhead trip with his boys each year. He was always excited when he met a new friend who quickly became family.
He was generous to a fault. He often spent his days running errands to help others, going to ”rescue” a friend or family member stopping to visit someone who was sick or sad or just talking on the phone with someone who needed a “Heeeeeelllllo”. He was the person that when you were overwhelmed, his name would pop up on your phone.
He had that 6th sense about when someone needed an encouraging word. After his stroke left him unable to work or even communicate fully, he had to allow others to help him. He didn’t always love that he needed help, but he did love spending time with the people who helped.
He loved it when Kellie or Patty came to visit because there was always something special he got to do. His spirit of giving continued after his stroke. He was always wanting to find something he could make to give to people.
He was willing to stretch his talents since he couldn’t paint cars. He made jewelry, painted wood or even baked cookies or rice krispy treat that he could give to Danette and other family members. He worked very hard on his recovery through speech and physical therapy.
There were frustrating times, but he rarely let them get to him. He persisted in working on communicating through other means. He laughed a lot and hugged a lot.
He was still able to support those around him through a tear-filled smile directed at someone having a rough day and a pat on the shoulder. He still wanted birthdays to be special and many times jumped in the car the “directing” someone to the store for flowers or something to take to someone. He loved his brothers and sisters and always knew what was going on with their families.
He was proud of his nieces and nephews and their accomplishments. He mostly just truly loved the lunches and dinners where he got to spend time with them. He took care of his Mom and Dad in such a sweet and giving way.
His Mom was very special to him and he was always bragging about her. He would say that he gave her Hell, but that she gave him his “smart Alek ways. Mike was a prankster.
He loved to jump out at someone, make faces, leave a prank that looked like one thing and was really something else. He kept people laughing. He had a way that made it ok for someone to not only laugh at him, but at themselves which just broke the ice and made everyone best friends.
He is survived by his Wife Danette; Children: Justin Fry (Keri), Kellie Fry Davies (Mike), Tyson Fry (Jaclynn), Brittany Keller, Crystal Cline; 14 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren; Siblings: Patty Hinks (Rick), Terry Fry (Rosalind) and Sheri Nelson (Dave). He was preceded in death by his parents and Nephew Nicholas Hinks. The lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to help with funeral expenses.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 7:00p.m. at Provident Funeral Home 3800 Washington Blvd. , Ogden, UT.
