George Morris Hughes Jr., 71, of Deer Park, Texas was born on October 2, 1947 in Channelview, Texas and entered into rest on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. George was the second of two children to parents George and Lola Hughes. He attended Whittier, Furr High School, and San Jacinto College.

After school, he began his career as an operator for Celanese (Clariant) and retired after 36 years in 2012. After retirement, George loved desicating his time and attention to volunteering at a New Dawn Pet Adoption Center. He will be incredibly missed by many and he leaves an absence in the heart of his best friend and sister, Mary Beth Hughes.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Lola and George Hughes Sr He is survived by his sister, Mary Phelps; brother-in-law, Jerry Phelps; niece, Pam Marquis; nephews, A.J. Phelps, Zack Mosley, Brandon Thomas; daughter, Sherry Hughes-Reisman; and girlfriend Dawn Kubisz, as well as numerous cousins. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at San Jacinto Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00pm.
