OBITUARY George Parks Jr. March 20, 1956 – July 11, 2018 Our dear husband, father, brother, and son, George Parks, Jr., 62, of Van Buren, left this earthly world to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Fort Smith. He was born March 20, 1956 in Fort Smith, the third child of five, to the late George and Myrtle Parks, Sr. George followed his father’s footsteps and joined the U.S. Army as a tank crewmember. After serving his tour, George returned back home to Van Buren.

Besides his family, his greatest passion was riding motorcycles; smiling in the wind. He was retired from Saint-Gobain Proppants in Fort Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, David Seth.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sue Parks of the home; two daughters, Melissa Parks and Barbara Hill both of Van Buren; three sons, Drew Shields and Michael Parks both of Van Buren, and Carl Parks of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Joyce Moses and Rosemarie Knight both of Van Buren; two brothers, Donnie Parks of Dyer, and Ronnie Parks of Pennsylvania; thirteen grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and one step-great-grandchild. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Pallbearers will be Bobby McKowan, John Morris, Tyler Seth, Randy Scott, Rusty Howard, and Abraham Jaimes.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
