OBITUARY George “Tommy” Thomas Tucker October 21, 1942 – January 10, 2019 Play Tribute Movie GEORGE THOMAS TUCKER George Thomas Tucker, “Tommy,” 76, of Calabash, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Richmond, Virginia, on October 21, 1942, the son of the late Sanford and Lillie Tucker. He was also preceded in death by his niece, Susan Brown.
Tommy loved his family and was so proud of his sons. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 47 years, Eleanor Judd Tucker; two sons: C. Randolph Tucker of Scottsdale, AZ, and J. Kenneth Tucker (Julie) of Menlo Park, CA; four granddaughters, Katherine Patricia “Kate,” Elizabeth Juliet “Ella,” Charlotte Victoria , and Caroline Sophia; sister, Mary Anne Tucker Brown (Nick) and nephew Jeffrey Brown of Greensboro, NC; daughter-in-love, Catherine Joy Tucker of Apollo Beach, FL . Tommy graduated from the University of Richmond and began his accounting career with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company with a move to Falls Church, VA.
After thirteen years experience with PMM as a CPA he was chief financial officer with several companies. He spent two years in the US Army Signal Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. As a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7288 in Calabash, he served as a trustee board member.
Being an avid golfer, Tommy and Eleanor retired to Brunswick Plantation and Golf Resort in 2000. They joined Seaside United Methodist Church in Sunset Beach, NC. he sang for 18 years for the Washington Red Skins Singers, and sang in the sanctuary choir.
He spent many hours working Sudoku and crossword puzzles. A celebration of his life service will be held at Seaside United Methodist Church on Monday, January 21, 2019, at 10am with a reception to follow. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the Calabash VFW Post 7288, 900 Carter Drive SW, Calabash, NC 28467 or the Music Ministry of Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Drive, SW, Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
