Obituary of George Rumsey George Clark Rumsey, 69, of Reading Center, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 23, 2018 at home. He was born in Westfield, PA on March 7, 1949, the son of George Harvey Rumsey and Thelma Clark Rumsey. He graduated from Cowanesque Valley Junior Senior High School in PA.

On March 15, 1969, he married the former Patricia Ann Coons in Middlebury Center, PA. George worked for the Pennsylvania State Highway Department for ten years and then at US Salt for 22 years. He attended St. Mary’s of the Lake Church as well as several other churches over the years in Northern PA and New York.

George enjoyed hunting, farming (Gentleman Farmer) and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose. Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years, Patricia Ann Rumsey; three sons, Clark (Beth) Rumsey of Rock Stream, Mark (Anne) Rumsey of Kettering, OH and Kevin (Jamie) Rumsey of Watkins Glen; two sisters, Joyce (Bruce) Broadbent of York, PA and Joan (Ken) Bubb of Mecklenburg, PA; sister-in-law, Janet Rumsey of Westfield, PA; six grandchildren, Megan, Logan, Niamh, Aoife, Isaac and Owen; two great grandchildren, Caden and Hallie (Garrett); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends, neighbors in the community.

He was predeceased by his mother in 2003, his father in 2007, and a brother, Harvey Rumsey in 2017. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 2-3 pm at the Watkins Glen Fire Department, 201 N. Perry St., Watkins Glen. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm followed by a reception at the fire department.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Kentucky 41076, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Watkins Glen Fire Department, 201 N. Perry St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. Arrangements are under the direction of Vedder and Scott Funeral Home in Montour Falls.
