Obituary for Geraldine “Gerry” Walter Geraldine “Gerry” Walter passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family, in Rensselaer, Indiana on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Gerry was born in Salyersville, Kentucky on March 19, 1939, the daughter of Elliott and Nannie (Salyers) Allen. On April 29, 1989, Gerry married Bob Walter, Jr. in Rensselaer, Indiana.
She was previously employed at Doremire in Kentland and the Medaryville Garment Factory. Gerry most recently worked in the bundling department at Rensselaer Plastics for 17 years. She attended the Medaryville Assembly of God Church.
Gerry enjoyed crafting, going antiquing, working with flowers and taking care of farm animals. She took great enjoyment from riding motorcycles with Bob and listening to rock ‘n roll music. Gerry’s greatest joy came from time spent with her family and her grandchildren, especially at Christmas which was her favorite holiday.
Gerry is survived by her loving husband Bob, two sons’ Ron (Sherry) Wash of Monon, IN and Mike (Jodi) Wash of Francesville, IN; stepchildren, Jeff (Lori) Walter of Rensselaer, Julie (TJ) Gradecki of Volo, IL and Lori (Collin) Clark of Delphi, IN; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is five siblings, Ed Allen of Remington, IN, Betty (Harris) Hale of Francesville, IN, Raymond (Beverly) Meeks of Medaryville, IN, Madeline Caldwell of Crown Point, IN and Larry (Sherry) Allen of Crawfordsville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents Elliott and Nannie, two sisters, Clara Fay Allen and Phyllis Fleenor and a brother, Kendall Allen.
Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (cst). Funeral services for Gerry will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Pastor Tom Dewlin officiating. Burial will follow at Crockett Cemetery, Rensselaer.
